About his appearance, his lifestyle, his flirtations with MTV and the excesses of life always in the spotlight. But if there is one thing really hard to do is to criticize his drumming.
Travis Barker is an excellent drummer, with particular attention to the rudiments and the technique of the hands. Its parts are always well studied and everything it touches (musically) becomes gold, from gadgets to products with its signature, to TV series on commercial TVs. There are very few drummers with this ability and he is definitely one of them.
“Everything you touch becomes gold”
Travis Landon Barker was born in 1975 in California and at 5 he started playing drums. Before the start of high school, his mother on her deathbed tells him to continue playing the drums and to do it seriously. He takes it very hard and during the school, he joins the band and forms his first bands, the Feeble, The Suicide Machines and the Aquabats, where he called himself “Baron Von Tito”.
Just as he was on tour with the latter, he was asked by Mark Hoppus and Tom DeLonge to replace Scott Raynor, the first drummer of Blink 182. The two were so satisfied that they asked Travis to join the band permanently. It was 1998 and the Blink 182 phenomenon was about to explode.
Travis, who until then kept himself doing drum lessons for children, suddenly experienced global success with the release of “Enema of the state”.
She marries ex-playmate Shanna Moakler with whom she participates in the MTV reality show “Meet the Barkers” and her musical projects run after each other, from Transplants to Box Car Racers up to +44 and dozens of other collaborations. In 2011 he released his solo album “Give the drummer some” and in the meantime Blink 182, also released in 2009, also met.
